Year 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the promulgation of the Basic Law. The Department of Justice (the “DoJ”) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“HKSAR”) would host a Legal Summit virtually on 17 November 2020 (Tuesday). This is the first Legal Summit organised by the DoJ on the promulgation of the Basic Law. We hope to foster exchanges between the legal professions in the Mainland and Hong Kong, and share the experience of successful implementation of the Basic Law through the Legal Summit. The Legal Summit also promotes public understanding of the origin and design of “one country, two systems” institution as well as the relationship between the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China (“PRC”) and the Basic Law.
